As China's "dual carbon" goals push forward and awareness of aluminum recycling grows, the recycled aluminum industry is taking off. In 2025, China's recycled aluminum output surpassed 12 million tons, with wider use in building, industrial, and civil aluminum profiles. By 2030, recycled aluminum is expected to make up over 35% of total aluminum supply.

However, making recycled aluminum profiles brings new technical demands for extrusion presses:

Raw material composition varies a lot: Recycled aluminum comes from many sources, with batch-to-batch differences in impurity levels, flowability, and hot-working behavior. Presses need wider process flexibility and higher stability.

Surface and size standards stay the same: Customers expect the same surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical properties as virgin aluminum. Presses must deliver steady and precise pressure and speed control.

To meet these needs, Hengda Machinery has made targeted improvements in the container and control system:

Container upgrade: Uses a high-wear-resistant alloy liner for better corrosion and wear resistance, longer container life, and adaptation to friction changes from different billet compositions.

Control system upgrade: Closed-loop control with pressure and displacement sensors monitors pressure and speed fluctuations in real time. It automatically adjusts parameters based on billet flowability to keep profile dimensions and surface quality stable.

Die cooling and lubrication optimization: Adds an adjustable cooling distribution system to prevent local overheating or aluminum sticking due to material differences, improving yield.

Currently, Hengda's presses are running steadily at many aluminum profile plants, successfully producing products that meet building and industrial profile standards. The company says it will keep investing in R&D for recycled-aluminum-ready technologies, providing efficient and reliable equipment to support the circular economy.
